Bringing out the Best

Year 4

Welcome to our Year 4 Page.

Year 4 classes are taught by Mrs Wade and Miss Cooper.

Friendly Reminder: Our school day starts at 8.40am and finishes at 3.10pm.

PE: Our PE days are Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Please ensure you wear PE kit these days. Appropriate PE kit consists of a white t-shirt, black, navy or grey shorts or jogging bottoms/leggings and suitable footwear such as trainers or plimsolls. When children have PE we ask that no costume jewellery or earrings are worn in line with our health and safety policy- thank you for your support with this.  Please remember to send your child in with a named water bottle everyday.

Reading: We absolutely love reading in Year 4 and expect children to bring their reading records into school every day. Children will read with an adult during the school week and we will continue our 10 minute reading pledge where we promise to read to your child for 10 minutes a day with you continuing to read to your child for 10 minutes at home also.

Homework: Homework will be sent home weekly on a Friday and handed in on a Wednesday. There will be weekly times tables and spellings to learn and also an ongoing topic project to complete over the half term.

Times Tables: Times Tables are a big focus in Year 4 as children will complete the Multiplication Tables Check at the end of the year. The purpose of the MTC is to determine whether pupils can recall their times tables fluently, which is essential for future success in mathematics. It will help us to identify pupils who have not yet mastered their times tables, so that additional support can be provided. We will use Times Tables Rockstars frequently in class and play lots of fun games to help improve our recall of tables to 12 x 12.

Anything you need to know or want some extra support with, please contact us and we will do our best to help. Our doors are always open.
