Bringing out the Best

Sports Within our Cluster Schools

At Highlees, we aim to deliver High Quality Physical Education, developing the children’s knowledge, skills and understanding so that they can perform with increasing competence and confidence in a range of physical activity.  Physical Education promotes an understanding in children of their bodies in action, promotes positive attitudes towards a healthy lifestyle and develops a sense of fair play and sportsmanship.

How do we do this?

We ensure that 2 hours of Physical Education should be taught from Year 1 – 6.  Physical development of our Reception children is encouraged as an integral part of their work.  Children are given a wide range of physical challenges or tasks to carry out.  PE activities are built upon the prior learning, providing opportunities for children of all abilities to develop their skills, knowledge and understanding in each activity area.

Through the Jack Hunt Cluster Sports Partnership, we make sure that children are given opportunities to participate in activities outside our school (i.e. festivals with cluster).
