Year 5 have settled in well to the new routines we have in school. We are working together well in our bubbles and understand the importance of keeping each other safe.
In Maths, we have revisited place value extending our previous knowledge to numbers up to one million. We are using manipulatives to help us deepen our understanding. We are continuing to practise our times tables on TT Rockstars.
In Writing, we have been writing setting descriptions of Hampton Court Palace using expanded noun phrases and using our senses to build up a picture for the reader.
In Reading, we have been reading the book Treason by Bertie Doherty. We have been skimming and scanning to retrieve information from the text and building up a bank of vocabulary linked to our topic.
In Science, we have been learning about forces, We will be making paper boats to represent the Mary Rose and investigating the buoyancy.
In Topic, we have looked at Tudor timelines, and will be studying the life and times of Tudor Britain. This week we started our own Tudor portraits using different sketching techniques.
